BULLDOG Timber connector (single-sided)
Single sided or double sided Bulldog® toothed plate are made from steel sheet. While using the single-sided toothed connectors for wood/ wood as well as wood/ steel/ connections you can use the double-sided toothed connector only for wood connections. The single-sided Bulldog- timber connector gets it's name depending on it's size C2 or C4. All Bulldog- connectors are individually galvanised as protection for corrosion. For the single-sided connector, the contact between dowel and bolt is required. Make sure that the bore diameter should be only max. 1 mm bigger than the nominal diameter of the bolts. That means, when using a bolt with a diameter of M12, you need to use a wood-drill bit size 13.
According to DIN 1052:2004-08 Bulldog timber connectors are regulated as type C1, C3 and C5 for double-sided and as type C2 and C4 for single-sided connectors.
For example for frame edges, beams, coupled purlins and connections on end-grained beams.
Conclusion:
Single-sided toothed connectors are used for wood/ wood as well as wood/ steel/ connections. The bolts have to be placed close to the bearing stress ring. They are directly involved with the power transmission.
