The DIN 912 cylinder screws with hexagon socket needs in comparison to the hexagon screw less space, since it's head is smaller. I comparison to a same size recessed-head screw (Phillips screw) a hexagon socket can receive 10x torque. The belonging spanner with hexagon head is often very inexpensive and compact.
