DIN 985 is a hexagonal nut with non-metal insert low shape and better known a self-locking head nut. The clamping part made from plastic will be plastic and elastic deformed while screwing. The elastic part causes a radical acting friction lock to prevent unfastening of the nut. These nuts are only for single use, since the clamping part from plastic closes when unfasten of the locking nut and loses so it's securing action. These self-locking hexagon nuts are used as screw lock and bolt retainers together with hexagon screws and hexagon socket screws in the quality 8.8.
